ELTON JOHN: 'I DON'T TAKE FAME SERIOUSLY'

SIR ELTON JOHN takes a light-hearted approach to his celebrity status - and has confessed to doing some "hideous things" during his career. The Rocket Man singer insists his relaxed attitude towards past antics helps him to avoid getting caught up with the destructive side of fame. He says, "I've taken work seriously - the artistic side - but I've never really taken fame seriously. "Otherwise I wouldn't be able to look back and laugh at some of the hideous things I've done!"

Sir Elton John Gives Surprise Performance At Prince's O2 Gig

Shaveta Bansal - Celebrity News Service Writer

London, England (CNS) - The audience at London's O2 arena was left amused Thursday night after pop singer Prince was joined on stage by Sir Elton John. The pair performed a cover of The Beatles' The Long and Winding Road, followed by Prince's introduction of his night's co-performer.

"You know who it is - Sir Elton John!" Prince said to the cheers of the audience.

Prince, who is nearing the end of his 21-day residency in the U.K., also performed the 1980s classics "When Doves Cry" and "Sign O' The Times," before taking the stage at neighboring venue Indigo for an aftershow performance.

Elton John History

One of the most commercially successful entertainers of the last 30 years, pop singer Elton John was born Reginald Dwight on March 25, 1947 to a middle-class family living in Pinner, England. Taking the stage name Elton "Hercules" John, Dwight embarked on a solo career in mid-1968, performing songs he had written with lyricist Bernard Taupin. Working with producer Gus Dudgeon, John and Taupin released a new album for MCA Records in 1970, Elton John. Thanks to critical praise and the U.S. success of the Top 10 single "Your Song," John found himself quite popular in America, touring the country for the first time later that year.

His 1971 follow-up, the concept album Tumbleweed Connection, was another big hit, reaching the Top 10. The prolific pair put together several more albums during 1971-72, culminating in 1972's Honky Chateau, John's first No. 1 album. Its big single, "Rocket Man," inaugurated a string of hits for the singer-pianist, who scored 16 consecutive Top 20 hits between late 1972 and mid-1976, releasing up to three albums a year. Hits like "The Bitch Is Back," "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting," "Bennie and the Jets," "Yellow Brick Road," "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me," "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" and "Crocodile Rock" became pop classics, turning Elton John into a bona fide superstar. He appeared on the cover of Time, performed for more than 100,000 people in Los Angeles, dueted with John Lennon in New York and appeared in the movie Tommy.

Elton John is Still Hot

He is in his 60s. But he is still hot.

Now Elton John is coming to Australia and have several concerts. Not enough...People are despered to get tickets. So Sir Elton John decided to have additional concerts (see here). Then he could make a lot of money. Oh, my fault, he is already a rich person. Also a gay. So I bet he does not need to get richer. All he wants to do is to fly around the world and comfort the fans' hearts...

Welcome to Elton John Concerts Fan Blog

Since 1995 I have been Elton John's fan for a long time. Yes it is true that Sir Elton John is a gay, which makes him not cool at all. However his music is just great.
